Emblem

Alex and I took off the spare wheel holder and put Morrow's emblem back on to make him feel more like a VW again.

Let's 'ave a butcher's

We didn't bring the engine with us, but did find the old air filter in the engine bay. Morrow also has his belly pans, but with the roof open and detritus falling through the floor the pans held in muck and moisture which damaged the frame. Also check out the mouse nest above the front belly pan.

Olsen's

You'll have to check the other blog for photos, but we had a trip up to Tampa to the Olsen's Swap Meet to try and sell and fell things for Morrow's restoration. Vicky and Helen had been busy making lots of jewellry, but it was really hot and the turn out was low. We did make $65 and I sold some books on Ebay for another $16.

The Pick Up

On June 19th 2009 we returned to pick up Morrow. It did not go too smoothly. When I picked up the trailer from Dave the lights didn't work properly. However, following in the local tradition of others we decided to make the trip anyway with only one brake light and a left turn signal working. Oh, also my back went out so we hoped we would be able to pull him out of the weeds and onto the trailer. No need to worry though as Morrow was ready with all the crap cleared out of him and four wheels with air. He was winched up onto one trailer then rolled over onto ours. I took out his skylight windows in case they fell out on the way home, but didn't bother to tie up his passenger door , so Morrow waved hello to everyone on the way back home. In the end it turned out fine and we got him into the garage with the help of one neighbour. The boys then swept Morrow out while Vicky and I took the trailer back. We couldn't get it off the tow bar, but Dave helped out. He's a great guy. Back home we let off a bug bomb and the biggest roaches and ants you've ever seen came out.

The Beginning

Several years ago we heard about a guy who had many VWs including a 21 Window Bus, but the guy did not want to sell. Vicky's friend convinced him that we were good peeps and on June 5th 2009 he agreed to meet us. We drove to the location which was many hours away and arrived in torrential rain. The bus was deep in the woods and we got wet, bit by mosquitoes and
